Environmental Discovery Centre for York

We are well on our way to establishing this Centre in York.

The Hon Darren West MLC, WA Labor Member for the Agricultural Region has announced that a re-elected McGowan Labor Government will provide $60,000 to the River Conservation Society to establish this Centre. We would like to thank Darren for his support and interest in our project.

York Shire Councillors have agreed to our proposal to lease the old Tennis Court site on the corner of Glebe and Clifford Streets for the new Environmental Discovery Centre.

The Centre will be the first of its kind in the Wheatbelt and will become a central point for other Wheatbelt and Avon catchment environmental groups to meet and share their knowledge and experiences. The Centre will allow the RCS to have educational displays and workshops and to engage the local York community and tourists in volunteering with environmental protection and restoration work within the Shire of York.
