Butterflies Everywhere!

It seems the recent rain and warm autumn weather has created a bonanza butterfly season for York and sometimes you are in the right place at the right time. This 34mm butterfly got wet while I was watering and then needed to dry out before flying. It was happy to sit sunning itself on my thumb.
This is the Satin Azure Butterfly which uses native Mistletoe – Amyema as its host. It is well named with its upper wings a brilliant blue.
